Re: Journal: Monday 9 July 2008

I liked how it was the Circle line that brought you back to your old living and back again. I am struck how centering is so much a part of the spiritual life. How in your past you flung yourself out without this center and now you are contracting with one. Or perhaps doing practices to allow you to stay in stillness and equanimity with a center. I find the creative tension between the private and the social the primal dance. Inhale exhale. I am doing a bit better with the exhale but still holding my breath in a lot. It hurts. It seems we have capacities for both when we cultivate center which is an amorphous term for what? For accepting the full spiritual embodiment? For accepting ourselves unconditionally? The closest I can come is with gravity. Gravity naturally falls to a center. The earth, the sun, the moon, the north star around which all the galaxies flow. And gravity in personal lives has no ethics to bear its burden. It is just falling. The work seems to be in following what appears to be a stumble into a headlong fall and trust it is towards personal grace. And at the bottom of this well we may find a another spark for radiance and the dance continues.
